TVL Series

With the 6-axle robots TVL500 and TVL700, Shibaura Machine (Toshiba Machine) continued the successful development of energy-efficient robots in lightweight construction as done previously with the SCARA models of the THL series. This has been achieved through the use of light continuous casting aluminium components that are equipped with ribbed areas in order to provide the required stiffness. At the same, they have a lot less steel mass. This principle is applied to the corpus as well as to the robot arm so that smaller servo motors can be used without limiting payload or speed. In addition, this type of light system produces less moments of inertia which results in less corrections of position and simpler drives.
The TVL500 and TVL700 robots are equipped with 500-mm and 700-mm arms, which corresponds to a reach of 602 mm and 801 mm. The low weight of the robot arm and the corresponding low moments of inertia guarantees a quick cycle time of only 0.4 seconds, which is very fast for a 6-axle robot.
